However, Pattaya has been going downhill for awhile now. I would really not recommend it. But it is only an hour-ish away from Bangkok so you can definitely do a day trip! You should also check out Chiang Rai (I think it's right next to Chiang Mai...my Thai geography kinda sucks. but we have like 77 provinces <--see? I don't even know the exact number) I think you would definitely enjoy that. Maybe not entirely pack up and move there right away, definitely check it out for a trip first!
