Different types of tired

I’ve been working my way through Pam Slim’s book, Escape From Cubicle Nation. It’s fantastic so far and I just wanted to share a quick nugget of information that I have picked up from it.

In one little part of this book, Pam talks about different types of tired.

The first type is when you get done doing whatever you do for the day and you are a wreck. You come home and just act miserable. You need a strong drink just to get by. You dread waking up the next morning and doing it all over again. Your relationships suffer and you basically suck at being nice.

The other type of tired is when you feel satisfied. The fatigue is almost replaced by the sense of accomplishment that comes with getting something done that is worthwhile. Just think of how you feel when you finish a hike or a long bike trip; you might have felt like quitting because it was hard, but you feel SO good when you are done.

The differences between these two types of tired are very noticeable, and I really hope that you are feeling the second type more than the first. If you aren’t, a change of some kind might be necessary.
