My mind is constantly working and coming up with ideas. If you are like this too you may understand my pain. On a normal day I might come up with three or four business ideas. So how do I sift through these and decide what ideas to pursue? Simple.
I have a two week rule for ideas.
Here’s how it works:
- I write down my idea.
- I think about it for two weeks.
- If I still like it, I think more about it. If I’m really not into the idea anymore, I erase the note and forget about it.
I know, I’m brilliant :-)
While this isn’t very complex stuff it has helped me a lot. It is by using this two week rule that I started this blog in the first place. The rule is not foolproof but it does work most of the time for me.
The time that you need to think over ideas may be more or less than two weeks. That’s cool. It’s the general idea of thinking about something thoroughly before you attack it that I am trying to get across here.
In the past I wasted so much time on “great ideas” that eventually lost their appeal. I don’t want that to happen to you.
I would love to hear how you process your ideas and find the ones that are winners.

You know, Nate, you might consider doing something else with your ideas that you don’t want to pursue, yourself. Such as, submit your idea here: http://submitbusinessideas.com/
That way, if you don’t want to develop it, someone else might want to and you’ll get paid for it anyway. Might be work considering.
