As an internet entrepreneur it is important to pay attention to not only other online businesses, but also ones that are offline. I was recently enjoying a meal at Denny’s restaurant and took a few minutes to think about how I could relate the Denny’s experience with online business. There are actually a lot of lessons that an online entrepreneur can learn from this great establishment. Here are three of them:
1. Find something that people desire, but not many others provide.
Denny’s is famous for their 24 hour breakfast menu as well as being open 24 hours a day. There are only a handful of other places that offer this level of convenience. They provide a great option for those who work crazy shifts and any late night eater. They also give the opportunity for pancakes and eggs anytime to all day breakfast lovers.
Being a successful internet entrepreneur comes down to this simple concept; find something people want and provide it for them.
2. Always innovate and be creating new ideas.
Denny’s seems to always be adding new items to their already extensive menu. They feature very creative meals, mainly on their Rockstar Favorites menu. One of these items is the great Taking Back Bacon Burger Fries (basically fries with everything that is normally on a burger thrown on top of them).
This constant innovation and adding of new menu items is another thing that makes Denny’s great. As an entrepreneur you should always be seeking out new ways to make your customer experience better.
3. Give away something for free, and you will have fans for a long time to come.
Not too long ago Denny’s had a free breakfast promotion. For a day they were giving away free Grand Slam breakfasts. The response to this promotion was great and I can guarantee you that Denny’s gained a lot of new customers. These new customers will buy meals from them for years to come.
The lesson here is that providing something of value to people for free is a great idea for any internet entrepreneur. This could be a free report, e-book, consultation or really anything that is free of charge. People will love you for giving them something of value at no cost to them.
Follow Denny’s lead and you will find success.
Well, I think it’s about time for some breakfast at 4:00 p.m. I wonder where I will go?

Nate,
Good stuff, man! I like it when someone observes something that is typically ignored by everyone else and can find something relevant and insightful as a result.
It makes me think about how many store and services I experience everyday that I could be learning from if I stopped and observed while I was experiencing it.
Thanks for the eye-opener!
Scott
Thanks for the comment. It’s funny actually because I have gotten a TON of post ideas for this blog by simply paying closer attention to the things that happen to me throughout my day.
