Andew, that's a great list. That gaming addiction is something I understand, although I honestly never play video games. My addictions include hats and Boston Celtics tickets. I've managed to calm these down however over the last 6 months or so...

As far as helping other somehow, I'm in the same boat. I haven't decided if I want to write, or do some kind of coaching/consulting. I'm not making that decision for a while though, actually probably a long while.

Thanks for the comment!

Hi Nate!

I too have very similar goals.

-Make enough money to support my family (wife, kids, parents)
-Make enough money to support my gaming addiction (don't know if I'll ever grow out of that one)
-Be a great person altogether
-Help others somehow (mentoring, coaching, I'm not sure yet)
-Tour some famous roads and race tracks with a Shelby GT500
-Make sure all of the important people in my life know how much they've affected me

And there you have it. A combination of life goals, dreams, and stuff I want to do before I die.

Great post!

Alan, it's funny how a list of life goals can slip your mind when you are so focused on shorter term stuff. I'll look forward to hearing what you come up with if you decide to try to come up with some long term ideas!

Great post - these days I'm all about setting micro-goals for myself, but not once have I actually thought about putting together a list of life-goals. I told a close friend once that I would like to die knowing that I affected as many people in a positive manner as possible, so I guess that's a start, but I find it hard to come up with any long-term concrete goals at this point in my life. I'll have to get back to you...

Very cool that you and Tammy are going to try to write out a clear picture of what you want. I hadn't done it until a couple days ago and it has made a huge difference in my focus.

With that being said, I agree with you about focusing so much on the big picture that you miss the individual pieces. It really is important to slow down and realize the great things that are going on around you, even when it's busy and your focus may be elsewhere.

...and great timing with the song by the way! Thanks for the comment.

Nate,

Funny you should post this now. Tammy and I were just talking about sitting down and writing out a clearer picture of what we're striving for. Although we've always had goals that we're working towards.

My goals have always been similar to yours. But the problem I often run into is remembering to recognize when I'm actually living an "ideal moment". Life is filled with moments that, taken by themselves, are the kind we wish to see in our "ideal lives" on a daily basis. But I get so wrapped up in constantly striving for the entire package, that I often miss the hidden moments...the gems that I experience that are scattered around every day.

We all may be closer to our ideal lives than we recognize. Don't let these moment pass you by today because the rest of your life doesn't match up to your overall goals! Peace comes on piece at a time...and you may be holding more of it than you realize.

Peace!
Scott

PS Interesting note: While writing this comment, I just happened to be listening to John Lennon's "Imagine" as covered by Jack Johnson. :-)
